Bernhard birthday party

Today's is Bernhard's birthday, we were having a birthday party at the TIGP dormitory. Everyone brought something for the party, so we have some local dishes and of course their favourites, liquors. Huh, we have multinational-produced wines.
It was an international party, most of the new international students were joining the feast.

Today is Benny's birthday. He invited us to join his birthday celebration. We went for singing at Party Box KTV at Ximending.
Besides his friends, Aaron, Mark, Uncle Michael were there as well.

Finally it's published...my first scientific paper with impact factor.
終於出版了...這是我第一張有點數的paper.

Allow me to grumble a bit here...
This is my M.Sc. work in 2006, and the first draft finished on November 2006. The editing work of the draft only started on August 2007 with 2 to 3 times of edition when i backed to Malaysia for holidays (already 2 years, it was hard to remember what i've done on the research). Finally the final draft was submited on August 2008.
Why take so long to submit a paper..?!
Anyway, the reviewer comments received on November 2008 with minor corrections and reviced version were submitted on the next month. So finally it was accepeted on January this year. The process of submission till acceptance is considered smooth.
My first paper... haha...
允許我在這裡抱怨一下...
這是2006年碩士班的研究, 第一稿已經於同年11月完成. 可是第一稿的更改作業從次年的8月回國才進行. 兩年了,我怎麼記得當初做了什麼? 經過兩三次的修改後, 就被擱在那裡了... 最後於去年8月送出去.
寫paper需要那麼久嗎..?!
還好三個月後評審的評語不錯, 只需要小改正, 所以修改過的稿於去年12月再送回去.所以是2009年元月才被接受的.
投稿審核過程還算順利啦...
這是我的第一張paper喔... 哈哈!

Labmates were having a simple birthday party for me the night before at Bellini. I have to work on my progress report on the actual night.
The place was nice, it was highly recommended by Seok Kooi and Frank long before, hmmm they went there dating before...
Coming along are Seok Kooi, Frank, Tian Hua, Chin Huey aka homegirl and Shenq Huey.
We went there by bus from Academia Sinica, changed to MRT and get down at Taipei Main Station. Just a 5 minutes walk from the exit.
其實我於前一天晚上與實驗室的朋友在Bellini吃晚餐，當作慶祝。因為當天晚上需要趕做隔天的進度報告。
地點很好，是很久以前琡貴跟方堯推薦的，ㄟ...，他們有在那約會過啦...呵呵...
隨行的有琡貴, 方堯, 天驊，靜惠（阿宅）還有聖惠。
我們從中研院做公車轉捷運，然後在捷運台北車站下車，再步行約五分鐘。
I like the decoration and furnishing in Bellini, however there was a bit noisy.
Food served were nice.
The waiter was polite and nice, he asked us not to order too much as the food portion were not small.
We were suggested to add the order later after finishing the first order.
The waiters there even sang Italian birthday song for me. I don't understand the lyrics at all... haha...
阿源很喜歡裡面的裝潢，可是卻有點吵。
食物味道也很好。
那裡的服務生也和藹可親，他建議我們不要點太多以免吃不完，先等東西來了再看還有沒有需要再加點餐。
後來有甜點蛋糕，Bellini的服務生們還為我唱義大利文的生日歌，我當然是聽不懂啦... 哈哈！

這是會去的時候跟淑華在捷運月台合照的。她跟幾位大馬美女來台灣旅遊幾天。還好今天能碰面。
Chuen Yi called me from Malaysia.., we talked about Abigail and her daily life. Really miss my friends in Malaysia.
Mei Fong aka DNA even called far frem Sweden during her honeymoon holiday.
Messages and SMSes received from friends in Taiwan and Malaysia...
and Friedster and Facebook old friends (high school friends, seniors and juniors.., even some long lost contact friends) as well
It was so touched and memorable...
均怡從大馬撥國際電話給我，聊到生活點滴還有雨喬。真想念大馬的朋友。
美芳也從瑞典撥國際電話來，她在那邊遊學並渡蜜月...

An early birthday celebration with uncle Michael.
Since my birthday is around the corner, so Uncle Michael decided to have a dinner with me at Wang Steak. He said he has a promotion buy 1 free 1 coupon going to due soon. He kept on recommending the restaurant saying the food there is good.., but it is very expensive for me. Normal price for a set meal is NT1200 (~RM120) wow.., no people ant to join us. We went there anyway.
The service is very good. Every table has a designated waiter, wow, so special. Whenever a new dish is served, they will brief you what is the specialties of the dish and teach you how to taste it.
大叔為我提早慶祝生日。
我的生日快到了，大叔說要帶我去王品吃一頓豐盛的晚餐。他說他有買一送一的套餐禮卷，還說很好吃，很值得，可是我說很貴啊... 套餐的價格是每人NT1200（約馬幣RM1200），哇那麼貴，沒有人要跟我們一起去啦...不過我們還是去了。
王品的服務很好，每個餐桌都有專屬的服務員，很特別。（當然啦，那麼貴...)
每上一道餐點，就會向你介紹其特別，還建議你要如何品嘗...
This is the appetiser, French King Oyster Mushroom.
這是開胃菜，法式杏鮑菇沙拉。
Bun and croissant, with butter and "goose liver paste".
法國麵包與香酥牛角，還有牛油和鵝肝醬。
Seafood Consomme with Pastry i ordered. Ingredient got prawn, crab meat, scallops and others.
酥皮海鮮清湯，裡面有蝦子，蟹肉，干貝及其它...
Corn soup in Bread Container ordered by Michael, served inside a bun.
大叔點的法式麵包玉米濃湯，顧名思義，麵包裡面內有乾坤...
Side vegetable dishes. 配菜。
Lobster with Garlic Sauce i ordered. This is my second time having a lobster, half of it. So altogether i had tasted one whole lobster, haha... the other half is here.
我點的蒜茸龍蝦。這是我第二次吃龍蝦，也是半隻，所以總共我吃過一隻龍蝦，哈哈...另外一半在這裡。
This Wang Steak (their recommended dish) is ordered by Michael. I don't eat beef, so no comment. I think it's delicious.
這個台塑牛排（王品的招牌菜）是大叔點的。我不吃牛肉，所以毋可置評。不過看來好像很好吃。
Fruit and some drinks served. 鮮果及飲料。
Dessert, the French Burnt Cream. Take some of the vanilla ice-cream and dip into the hot chocolate inside the bun, awesome! I love that!
烤濃漿巧克力冰淇淋甜品。將香草冰淇淋沾一點濃烤巧克力醬，味道一流！我喜歡！
They even gave a cake for me for free...in conjunction to my early celebration.
Actually they will ask the customer before hand during booking, so that they will arrange something for you for free.., no matter it is anniversary, birthday or gathering.
他們還送我一小塊的生日蛋糕...就是因為我生日啦。其實在訂位的時候，他們會先問你是否有什麼特別備註之類的，然後他們就會特別為你免費另作安排，無論是紀念日，慶生或者是聚會。

Today is my 28th birthday...
Thank you so much for reminding me my age, it was a surprise from all of you. Actually i heard some noise outside and i did not expect there were so many of you...

In the afternoon, i went to Maokong 貓空 with Aaron. Initially we planned to travel in the cable car 貓空纜車, but it was too crowded. So we just took some photographs and went to karaoke for singing. We then went to a book fair where i bought a sandwich recipe book for Catherine.

A good start for yesterday night.., at least we were having fun together...
I was enjoying eating around the night market at Linjiang Street Night Market, near Tonghua Street.., thank you! Hey, we saw Victor Wong (Pin-Guan) along the way with his friends...
Da-You wanna be my chinese teacher in chinese phonetics, hmmm... please buy a book to aid in teaching la, aiyo.., if not how am i going to learn oh... Haha... (Jessica still not believing that i don't know how to use computers in Taiwan to type chinese characters, so i can only do it with my own laptop with hanyu pinyin input...)
So be brave my dear, you have to face everything all by yourself, sorry cannot offer any help on that... Whatever your decision is, i can accept and will support you deep in my heart.
My first ever "love letter" written in traditional chinese character.., ahhhh...!

First of all, Happy birdday to Chee How for yesterday...
Initially thought of viewing the fireworks of Taipei 101 at the roof top at midnight instead of going out for countdown, because it would be boring and meaningless going out alone just for that...
Suddenly Shobit invited me to go out with him, so five of us, Shobhit (TIGP student from India), Analyn (my MCB senior from Philipines), Teik Hui (a Malaysian friend), Miranda (Shobhit's friend) and i went out to Taipei 101...., yeah!
This was taken by Shobhit in front of the dorm before departing. From left Teik Hui, myself, Sundara, Miranda, Abi, Abi's hubby and Analyn. The next one near Taipei 101, see the crowd behind??
There are crowd of almost 500,000 people around the area to see the fire works show for 188 seconds... We took some photos while searching for strategic place to sit down... Everywhere are occupied and blocked by either trees or buildings... finally we sat down near the stalls...
There are taken is before the fireworks, means last year la...
The fireworks is very beautiful, can't imagine the fireworks presentation from the world's tallest building can be that spectacular. The night was not cold, but i felt a bit hot instead...

2007最完美101跨年煙火秀！

連著二年都去拍101跨年煙火秀。今年是在新光三越A9館的四樓平台拍的，距離很近，視野很好。單人雙機，一機拍中景，另一機拍特寫。故意選舞曲作配樂，讓大家感受新年快樂的氣氛。

The scarf i wear is just for fashion instead of preventing from cold... We took photos and play around after countdown...
We met with Sriram (next to me) and Leonardo (left), another TIGP student from India and Costa Rica, respectively, during the photo session.
Everywhere is crowded, we can't even move into the MRT station, so we walked along the road for nearly an hour together with the crowds... Finally we arrived dormitory at 3.30 a.m.
Happy New Year 2007 to everyone!
