Time really flies.., let's have a retro for what i have done in the year 2006...
Writing-up for thesis, correcting drafts...
Worked for CEBAR, involved in administration work, doing posters, and involved in promotion exhibitions. It's a good experience to know the what the public think of biotechnology and to deliver the message on biotech contribution to the society. Submitted my thesis for examination, finally after so many months...
Doing book translation, English to Chinese for two books... "How to Earn US Dollar in Your Pajamas" and "Pensonic", the latter is not on shelf yet... A good accomplishment for me (thanks to Adrian of Kanyin) and a good try... However, not becoming rich as no royalty for me... :p
Still a part-time patent drafter for a company (Thanks to Cheong Yee)... Got to now that actually to patent a stuffs is not that difficult, just have to follow the rules and depends what aspect you want to patent something... So consider earning some extra money to support living expenses...
Applied for TIGP, passed the interview through skype and got the offer... No GRE is required and TOEFL requirement has been waived (Thanks Jessica and DNA)...
Applied for Monbusho Scholarship, passed the English proficiency test and got the interview, but didn't turn up as decided to go Academia Sinica to damaging my head permanently... (I should write DNA's name on my answer sheet..:p)
As one of the organising committee of International Symposium on Molecular Farming in Plants 2006 (ISMFP 2006), successfully organised in June 2006. Get to know the how capability a secretary is, lots of things to be done and accomplished.., luckily Norul, Tengku and Huei Wearn are there... Always "serba-boleh", and got a "Amoi" during lucky draw (Thanks to Prof. Yasmin)...
Thesis examiner reports came in, only minor correction need to be done. Finished binding and "fight" for the dateline to attend convocation...
Finally convocation on 9th August 2006 in University Malaya, and received the scroll from Dr. Raja Nazrin Shah, prince of Perak State. Many thanks to those attending my convocation, and thanks for the gifts...
Prepared for leaving, busy with packing luggage, sending stuffs back hometown, discarding unused stuffs, farewell with friends and stay with family...
Really appreciate all my friends and family who are always with me, you are wonderful!! Thank you very much! (Too many to list...)
Leaving Malaysia, went to Singapore then flied to Taiwan... Leaving my cactus with Win Cheong and Michelle... Thanks to Fe Lex, Francis, Kar Woh and Prof. Wong for hosting everything...
Starting the life as a new foreign student in Academia Sinica, Institute of Molecular Biology... Started from zero and knowing new friends.., survived and adapted well as culture and language not much different from Malaysia...
Attending classes and seminars, doing assignment, studying, loitering, dreaming, blogging and etc... Went to Guess Guess Guess studio, really great experience! (Don't worry Chuen Yi, i'll bring you and Chee How there when you in Taiwan next time...) Of course do visiting around Taipei with friends from Malaysia...
Actually Academia Sinica is a good place for doing research, all the facilities and environment and very encouraging.., make TIGP as one of your choice to permanently damaging your head.
Won an iPod Video, very very lucky! Thanks to Agilent Technologies...
Prepared for mid term exam and seminar, but now, final exam.., good luck!
(I was very lazy to do exercise, but then now i'll exercise at lease 3 times in a week, consider a change for me...)

2 days after earthquake, 28th December 2006

There was an earthquake on Tuesday night, it seems very serious according to the news.
I was outside having dinner with Prafulla after exercise and we didn't experience any shaking while walking or having our dinner. I got to know about the earth quake when Nitin told me that his room was shaking for a while and asking me how was it, i didn't know anything!! After that, Ming Lun called and asked am i frightened just now as Taichung was shaking much. I told him nothing happened.
Thanks to those who concerning me through MSN, SMS, and some even call me purposely from Malaysia asking how was it... Actually i just received some of the late SMS (i mean dated yesterday, not sent today) in today late evening, or may be more to come on tomorrow...
Actually sometimes i do the ground is shaking, but not sure whether is really earth quake or just my imagination. There have been few times shaking since i stepped to this island, but not even one time i felt the shaking, perhaps i am too blur. To those who experienced the shaking in Malaysia are very lucky to me.., i was slept that time... :)
Two more assignments are pending, one is on the progress.., and the finals is on the first Monday after the new year... Happy countdown...
Oh ya, ang gu ang gu ang gu gu... Happy birthday to Sock Hwa!

Today is Winter Festival... Happy Dong Zhi!
We were having a Christmas and Winter Party at IMB this afternoon.., there were flea market, wedding celebration for our senior, tang yuan DIY and auction...
These are the food, aution bidding and the flea market...

It was a special day as today is Dong Zhi and the last Friday before Christmas.
There were also another ceremony held at the TIGP student dormitory. It's TIGP Certificate Conferral Ceremony. It was a historical event as a first TIGP student has graduated. He has published 7 papers in 3.5 years of his study!! :s So geng...

What a bad cold day...

Today is the coolest day... around 12 degree outside.., luckily no rain, if not it would be worse...
Ahhh..., what a bad weekend for me...
i forgotten my key when going out of my room to take some water.., just realised when the door was closed... Imagine there is 12 degree out there and i was wearing a simple pyjamas... Luckily Nitin was there and he lent me his jacket... Cold breeze makes my leg freezing, especially my extremities part...
Final exam is 3 weeks from now.., die...

Huh.., the company still calling me for details, i said not available with me, they said will call next week.., so desperate... I think should make them go to the bank together to cash in the check for me on the spot.., if they still think i'm their "big fish" or "water fish", then we shall see how long can they stand... So mean... :p Or may be i should ask them where is the MP3...
I went to collect the Wang Jian-Ming breakfast card from McD... Why i bought that card? I was regret not buying his EasyCard, it has been bid for more than NT10000 since the card only cost NT500 (including NT400 bus or MRT fare) when i reached Taiwan... FYI, he is the famous Taiwanese player in Yankee Baseball League in New York, player number 40...

Actually the MP3 gift is fake... (refer post on 2/12/2006) I have received another follow-up phone calls regarding the this.., this time they said i'm so lucky won the cash prize of NT 1,000,000!!! How could that be..? so damn lucky in a row?? They try to persuade and make you believe that it's really happenning to you... I told Jessica and Linda regarding this and they looked for me in the internet.., this is what we found:

All those cases are exactly happened to me... They are really professional, like reading from the script.., and having background sound effect looked like it's real happenning in live... Luckily i didn't lost anything but my time entertaining their call...

There're no free lunch in the world.., bear in mind... If you didn't enter any contest, that means you won't have the chance of winning any grand prizes...
But the iPod is another case...

Bought a small iron for NT650, size 9.6x5.2x7.0 cm, it will automatically adjust its temperature when ironing on different materials, it's cool and be used world wide without worrying the voltage different. It's look cute, portable and efficient.
Prafulla bought a ASUS laptop for NT29500 at the PC fair, nice specification.

Sent the iPod for service, because some song in a playlist couldn't be played, and it caused the iPod to restart.., they will replace a new unit to me, so now i have to wait for 10 working days...

Figuring how to load songs into the iPod.., still learning and discovering...
Actually not so "user friendly" like ordinary MP3 player, the iPod recognises computer, so it is not that convenient to update in every computer...

Today nothing to do... Feeling moody and restless... boring...
Bought a wool sweater from Carrefour...
A random survey call from Chunghwa Telecom asked me for suggestions and comments to improve their service, i gave comment that the calling and messaging rates are too high... As a token of appreciation, they'll give me a gift... Choose between a "wealth-calling cat" (i supposed it's something like a statue), an incoming call alert or something similar (may be something hanging on the handset) and an MP3 player... So i chosen the MP3 player, they will send it next week... True or not...? Suddenly so lucky this week... Why i'm not winning a laptop..??!!
