Hi everyone, this would be the place where I can get connected with my family and friends when I am abroad. Wish we can stay in touch always, and I will keep updating you my current life here... =) You are welcome to leave any message and comment here... Take care and have a nice day!

31st August 2007 Merdeka!

This is the second time i am celebrating Malaysian independence day in Taiwan... How do i feel? Nothing... Haha...! I love my country very much, my friends and family are residing in Malaysia, however some bad incidents and issues happened all the hwile making me not happy about the government. For after 50 years of independence, we are still a developing country, those unfair and not merit-based policies should be reviewed and changed. We should change and move according to global development intellectually and socially, especially in science and technology development. If not because of Malaysia, i would not be what am i today.

Frankly those yells or slogans doesn't mean anything, hanging national flags on buildings, houses and vehicles doesn't mean patriotism anyway!!! If we love our country, we should not yell or talk only, put it in action please.
We should love the people around us, help our friends, care for our family and do not bring down the country name by doing shameful or illegal activities. Study hard, doing good research with good publications, be responsible for your job and family, and obeying country rules and regulations are what we can do. Low criminal rates, peaceful country, good living environment and people with high morality are more realistic than anything else.

Actually every country is having their own problem, "you see me good i see you good", anyway those are my wish for my country...

Hope that all of us still remember what is our Rukun Negara 国家原则 (National Principles):
1. Kepercayaan kepada Tuhan 信奉上苍 (Believe in God)
2. Kesetiaan kepada Raja dan Negara 忠于君国 (Loyalty to King and Country)
3. Keluhuran Perlembagaan 维护宪法 (Upholding the Constitution)
4. Kedaulatan Undang-Undang 遵崇法治 (Rule of Law)
5. Kesopanan dan Kesusilaan 培养德行 (Good Behavior and Morality)

Nowadays living cost are increasing, petrol to daily consumerbles and food, even our knowledge... ;p, only our salary not increased, so "Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!" should be yelled in Cantonese as “物跌价!物跌价!物跌价!”

Happy Independence Day!

Happy birthday to King Hwa and Cheong Yee! Two of you just received the greeting calls from Taipei by Seok Kooi and me. :) Enjoy your big day!

29th August 2007

Just a stamp on the old ARC and a new sticker on the passport cost us for NT1000.., wah!!! Jessica said that will ensure our safety staying in Taiwan for the next one year, oh would it be considered as "protection fee" as collected by those gangsters?? Haha...

What happened to me..?? Repeating the same experiment whole afternoon and yet not getting expecting results.., feeling clumsy and restless all the way... Hmmm...

Juniors are coming..., Seok Kooi is arriving tomorrow...
After wandering and loitering for one year, i will be senior for those juniors... i am going to help the MCB office in organising the Orientation Programme...

22nd August 2007

22nd - 24th August 2004

We went to the meeting for 3 days..., initially was thought can be relax as the meeting was held in a grand cozy hotel... I can say this is the best meeting i have ever attended, it gave me the opportunity to see, to learn and to appreciate what others are working on at the moment... So many big-shots are there, i was like hey, i read his papers, oh this is how he looked like, ah he is old and etc... I got the chance to meet some Malaysian from University Malaya, my former university, they are doing well but are more to application approach. Our neighbour country Singapore is doing very well too, and on the last day only i verified that some of them are Malaysians too, hey what's our government is doing...?? Malaysian very can one leh...

Dengue vaccine is on second phase of clinical trials, soon it will be released to benefit those who needed. So many interesting findings are being reported and it would be a better future for everyone...

I would say so many people in the world are still studying this tiny creature aka dengue virus even though it existed more than a century ago... Research is very competitive as we saw other groups are working on the same target with similar approach as we did in our lab... We should work hard and will make it soon!

These are the pictures we took during the meeting... :)

During the meeting and with labmates...

Food during the meeting...

During the banquet...
The food is damn nice... abalone and lobster... :p

Around the hotel...

Saw these somewhere outside the hotel.., nice quotes and phrases...

Weekend at Lavender Cottage 11th August 2007

Pak Guan went to Lavender Cottage 薰衣草森林 with some new friends on last Saturday.
They departed from Taipei Main Station...means railway station...

Arrived at Hsinjhu 新竹 ("New Bamboo" if direct translation) Railway Station. From there, they took bus to Jhudong 竹東 ("Bamboo East") Railway Station and took another train to Neiwan 內灣 ("Inner Bay")...

From Neiwan Station, they walked through the Neiwan Old Street heading to the shuttle bus station to the Lavender Cottage 薰衣草森林...
Arrival...

Scenery around Lavender Cottage...

This is what he ate at the restaurant there... This is the cheapest meal and cost for NT130 if not mistaken, the rest are more than NT300...

This is lavender flavour ice-cream he had, NT40 per scoop but delicious... Some said it was too sweet...

Lavender.... Since now is not the blooming season, so no fragant smell... hehe...
If you expected something like this, then you would be very disappointed... (This picture is grabbed from somewhere, don't be misunderstood okay...)

The souvenier shop...

Chuen Yi would be very happy to see these, lots of hand-made soups on the shelf...

Pak Guan and friends went back to Neiwan by the shuttle bus... They stopped by Neiwan Old Street 內灣老街 to have some food and souveniers...

On the way back, he never expected there are station being named like this.., so funny... Hahaha...!!

They then stopped by at Hsinjhu for dinner... The ais kacang was so so only, don't know why it was highly promoted...
