Weekend 1st & 2nd September 2007

Today we went to Carrefour at Xizhi 汐止 with Seok Kooi, Shenq Huey, Zina and Mazen. They need to buy some daily consumables and food. I spent a lot this week... Hmmm...

Since we were boring at night, so i went to Taipei 101 with Seok Kooi. Sunny suddenly fong fei gei, so just two of us wandering around Xinyi area 信義區.
On Saturday morning, i went to a old folks home 台北縣立仁愛之家 at Wanli 萬里 with friends as a service volunteer. This is their monthly activity, it was a meaningful experience.
These are the scenery around 台北縣立仁愛之家... It was built by the seaside and of course the view are beautiful...

They are rehearsing the performance for the old folks...

I had special feeling (probably touching) when servicing one of the old folk. My friend was guiding me on how to taking care of them. We washed their feet by soaking them in a basin. We have to wash their dirty feet using hands and massage their muscle at the same time... Did any one of us ever do this to our parents or grandparents.., i believe most of us no... They are lonely and sick, some of them were very happy, telling stories of their past experience and chatting with us. Although we might not understand what are they talking (either mumbling or speaking unknown dialects), but we can feel that they are very happy. I learnt how to cut nails for old people, it have to be very gentle to avoid pain and wound, cut inward bit by bit and be patience. Again i remember when my mother was cutting the nail for me when i was small.., but till now i still never cut a single nail for her also.., what a bad boy i am...
We were having sharing session with other groups of people. It was meaningful.

We then went to Keelung 基隆 for lunch and visiting around.

This was taken near Haixing 海興 beach.

Baimiwong Battery Attached Remains (The Warehouse) 白米甕砲台附屬遺跡(庫房).

Later, we went to Siandong Cave 仙洞巖. There was a small and narrow lane (sieve) in between the cave leading to an altar, it was such a special experience, fat and tall person might be hard to went through the sieve of the rock. The caves are ventilated with cool breeze at the same time, so relaxing. It reminded me of Ipoh Caves having lots of stalactites and stalagmites which are a special landmark of Ipoh City.

Caves of the Buddha's Hand 佛手洞
The palm print on the ceiling of one of the chamber is natural but looked artificial.

Back to Taipei at night.
