Wow, tomorrow i will be going back to Malaysia for a short stay!
I can take a break for 9 days and settle some errants.
This time, four Taiwanese friends will be visiting my hometown, Ipoh.
Hope they will enjoy their stay in Malaysia.

I miss everything in Malaysia including my family, friends, and of course the food in Ipoh! In addition, i have arranged some appointment with my old friends, and of course the priority will still be reserved to my family.
Friends in Malaysia, do stay in touch.

Everything will be fine, don't worry.
Just relax and enjoy! ^^

Today, i was asked to be the host for an annual forum organised by the Student, Technicians and Postdoc Association (STP) of IMB on "How to balance between work and life". We invited the institute director, and another three supportive PIs to share their experience. It was an wonderful event as we get to know how they managed to gain successful career and enjoy their work. Frankly speaking, i am very nervous along the way when hosting this forum. It is hard to control the situation and kill some intervals by popping out some comments and repeating the main points. After the talk, it rings a bell and we realised that actually such balance could be achieved. We just have to prioritize the tasks, making friends, fall in love to our work and enjoy our life. We have much to learn from them and get enlightened on how to pursue our future direction.

Recently there are too much things to handle in my life, if what i did lead me to all these consequences, i believe i would manage to go through it.
Please be happy, no one wanted to be hurt.

Taitung Trip Day 4 台東之旅-4

Day 4: Taitung City, Forest Park, Seaside Park, Taipei 台東市區, 台東森林公園, 台東海濱公園, 台北

This was last day of the trip. We had to catch the train in the afternoon, so we just spend the whole morning within Taitung City. We borrowed bicycles from the hotel and toured around the city. (That was the main reason we stayed at that hotel because they provide bicycle for free.)

This is Taitung Forest Park 台東森林公園.

The Seaside Park 台東海濱公園 can be reached by going through the Forest Park. There are many public arts along the beach. It was cloudy and windy.

We managed to leave the park before raining.

Ha, we went to the 榕樹下米苔目 again for the second time. It is so popular and we waited for a while to get our meal. Looks delicious ya...

We went to the old Taitung Railway Station. It has been converted to a public outdoor gallery.

We went for another round of "shreded-ice" desert.

After packing up the luggages, we traveled by scooter to Taitung Railway Station. We passed by the "Fruit Street" 水果街(正氣路).

After returning the scooter, i rushed to toilet as i had a stomachache. Finally, we managed to catch the train and backed to Taipei.

That's the end of the 4-day trip to Taitung. We did not managed to cover all the tourist spots and definitely will be there again in the future.

Taitung Trip Day 3 台東之旅-3

Day 3: Bunun Village, Luyeh High Terrace, Siaoyeliou, Seaside Musical Show, Dulan, Taitung City 布農部落, 鹿野高台, 小野柳, 海上音樂會, 都蘭, 台東市

We woke up early in the morning and enjoy the breakfast prepared by the tribes. After the breakfast, we wandered around the village. The environment was peaceful and tranquilising. You can feel the fresh air, observe flying birds, and enjoy the beautiful sceneries.

Next, everyone was ready to watch the performance. There is a cultural performance in the village performed by the tribes everyday. Besides singing, they were dancing and performing some ritual ceremony. It was very interesting and there was an interpretor to brief us along the shows. They showed their passion on their culture in front of the audience. I enjoyed their performance very much!

After the show, i went to try the archery. It was easy to aim but not easy to shoot the target.

We left the village heading to Longtian 龍田 again.

This is another "green tunnel" 綠色隧道 at Luyeh 鹿野.

Finally, we arrived at Luyeh High Terrace 鹿野高台.

Here is another stop further up where is famous for parachuting.

This is the bird-eye view of Longtian 龍田 from the terrace. It looks like checkerboard or the Chinese character "田". The heart-shaped pattern on the lawn is where the parachute will be landing.

It cost for NT1000 for a 30 minutes fly (can't recall the exact cost and it was not affordable for me), so i didn't try it.

We left Luyeh High Terrace heading to Taitung City where we're going to stay there tonight.

This is the famous shop selling meat bun. We bought a few for lunch.

When travelling along the coast line, we went to Siaoyeliu 小野柳. Frankly speaking, the rocky architectures Siaoyeliou 小野柳 is not as impressive as those available at Yehliu Geopark 野柳地質公園 of Northeast Coast.

Along the way heading to Taitung City, we went for a beach concert.

He is a famous local musician with aborigine's origin Kimbo 胡德夫

We passed by Dulan 都蘭 again. The name appeared to be a laughing stock for me, just like the "Fucking" village in Austria.

After taking a shower at the hotel, it is time to look for food.

This is another shop selling 米苔目, with another shop selling stinky toufu 臭豆腐 next to it.

Another stall selling "shredded-ice".

That's all for the third day.

Taitung Trip Day 2 台東之旅-2

Day 2: Chulu Ranch, Bunun Village, Longtian 初鹿牧場,布農部落,龍田

We woke up early in the morning and had the breakfast in the hotel. We checked out from the hotel after breakfast and heading to next destination. Since the journey is quite long, we stopped by along the way for rest and have some refreshments.

This is the park we dropped by at Taitung City. Quite interesting.

Next, we headed to the Taitung Central Market 台東中央市場 to see a legendary lady, Madam Chen Shu-chu 陳樹菊. She is a vegetable vendor who gives generously with her income. She was selected as one of the Time 100 for year 2010 in the Heroes category. We just admire her from the corner and took the picture. She is such a respectable person with simple live.

We then continue our journey heading to Bunun Village 布農部落 to drop our luguage. We had simple lunch along the way.

This is the entrance of the "green tunnel" 綠色隧道 in which trees were planted on both the road sides providing shades along the way. You can feel the cool breeze along the way with some sunlight.

We stopped by at the suspension bridge 鹿鳴橋 to took some pictures.

Finally, we arrived at Bunun Village 布農部落 of Yanping Village 延平鄉. It is a leisure farm managed by the tribes of Bunun to improve their living and promote their indigenous cultures.

After leaving our luggages, we continue our journey to Chulu Ranch 初鹿牧場.

Hey, we finally arrived at Chulu Ranch 初鹿牧場!

There were lots of dairy products for sale. I bought an ice-cream.

There was a large grass field for the cows. When i was wondering where are the cows, then i realised that the grass field was mainly served for harvesting to feed the cows in the ranch. It might be impossible to manage or restrict the cows grazing area in such a wide field.

We then went to the ranch to feed the cow. The is the second time i visited the dairy farm in Taiwan, though similar in general, but the managing scale was different.

This was the demonstration of how the cow's milk is squeezed. After restraining the cow in a cage, the nipples were washed and sanitised with iodine. The vacuum pump is applied covering the nipple and the milk was sucked out by the pressure applied.

We left the ranch and heading to Longtian 龍田, a small village near to Bunun Village. We went for a complimentary hot spring in the night.

That's all for the day 2 itinerary.

Taitung Trip Day 1 台東之旅-1

Today is 20th May 2011 and i would like to write about the interesting trip travelling to the east of Taiwan a year ago in the next 4 days. The trip to Taitung was planned weeks ago because according to a reliable source, empress was going to leave her palace for few days, hence it is a good opportunity to do so. Ops...

20th May 2010
Day1: Taitung City, East Coast Line, Jhihben 台東,海岸線,知本

We departed early in the morning travelling by train from Taipei to Taitung. The journey last for 5.5 hours and cost for around NT700 per trip. The picture below shows how i looked like a year ago and today.

When we arrived at Taitung Railway Station, we rent a scooter from a shop nearby. Remember to compare the price and get the best deal. We did it.
We traveled to Jhihben 知本 first as we are going to stay there for the first night. Jhihben is a famous hotspring area in Taitung.

After leaving our luggages in the room, we traveled back to Taitung City for lunch.

The sweet potato of this shop is very famous. Crispy and delicious. The combination of honey-coated and baked potato slices is just nice and irresistible. Go and get one if you are happened to be there next time.

Another delicious food is the rice noodle 米苔目. This stall is located within the alleys of the city and used to sell under a banyan tree, hence it is called 榕樹下米苔目. Only NT40 per bowl. Recommended.

We even tried the onion oil pancake 蔥油餅 located on the sea coast. It is normal but considered stuffy.

We then traveled along the coast line for some tourist spots.

Here is our first destination, Water Running Up 水往上流. What is so special for this place? You can see the water is actually flowing ascending the hill albeit the gravity directs the other way round. You can follow the water flow while ascending. There were few explanations for this phenomenon, but it remained elusive to me.

Here is Dulan 都蘭. There is an old and abandoned sugar factory by the main road. Currently, the area is developed and converted to become a recreation area with art display and shops to sell goods and food.

The next stop would be the Dulan Forestry Moonlight Inn 都蘭林場-月光小棧.

This was the first time i come so near to a paddy field.

Here is the Moonlight Inn 月光小棧. It served as the shooting scene for an old local movie "The Moon Also Rise (月光下我記得)", and it is converted to a tourist spot with commercial activity.

We then traveled back to the coast line heading to the next destination.

We decided the furthest we would go is Jinzun 金樽, Sansiantai 三仙台 was too far away, almost near to Hualien 花蓮, and the sky was going to dark soon. The view of Pacific Ocean was magnificent. I really enjoy looking at the sea and horizon.

Since the sun is going to set, we traveled along the coast line back to Taitung City.

We stopped by the shop along the side alley heading to Moonlight Inn for the famous fried rice. Not bad, perhaps we were too hungry. Haha...

We arrived at the hotel at Jhihben 知本 after the long journey. Singing and chit-chatting along the way will definitely kill the bore. We had our complimentary dinner provided by the hotel around 8 o'clock. We had a walk after the big meal along the street outside the hotel. We went for the complimentary hot spring facility as well and met some tourists from Malaysia.

That's our itinerary for the first day in Taitung.

An attitude that does not fear mistakes but expect it (not aim for it), and to have joy to learn from it (not be paralyzed by it) :-)

Dilemma

Something bad had happened, it is hard to pretend like nothing has happened...
Unfortunately, it cannot be undone...
Blaming for not giving much enough or not appreciating, is not important anymore...
Hopefully time will heal the pain...

When the timing is right, the crossroad will appear again...

Kindly apply two golden rule: identify and discriminate.
By knowing what you want and listening to your heart, you will find the way.

By looking at the title alone, one might speculates that the content would be something sound serious or noble. Actually i just wanna share my thought and point of view over here regarding this topic.

It is always good to understand and get to know ourselves. We can do that by observing and monitoring what are we doing daily. Whenever a thought is appeared in our mind, we could ask ourselves what is our intention to have such thought, what do we feel over the particular issue, what kind of attitude should be presented and etc.
In my opinion, these are the essential elements to be considered. Sometimes, they can be viewed as the "superficial" aspects which are tend to be neglected. It depends mainly on our emotion at that point in the presence of other distractions. Hence, a clear mind with good sense and feeling is required in order to observe and monitor our emotion and to prevent our emotion from interfering our mind.

Actually, we ourselves are the best friend of ourselves. We ourselves are the one who is be with us 24-7, not our partners, friends, family nor colleagues. Hence, who else can know ourselves better than we are. Some might said those psychologists or people who are observant enough are able to do so as well, but they are merely performing deductions according to our reaction.

Back to the point, why is it important to understand ourselves?
This is because we have to follow our own needs but not others. We have to be ourselves while living in the complex community. We need not have to follow the values and opinions of the majority. Since peers recognition is undoubtedly important, and if we would take it into consideration, we could do it in a moderate way. We have to listen to our heart and instinct, they are helping us to make many decisions in our life. We will be happy if we are doing something that we are enjoying as that is where our passion is. This is different from desire or intention which are more on purpose-driven.

When we are lost, our mind would be less alert to detect those trace changes within our heart. We would feel miserable and lost of direction. It is suggest to calm down and think rationally over and over again to look for the solution. However, it is hard to do so with too many distractions. Along the human civilisation history, human has "invented" or "created" a method which could serve for the same purpose, i.e. fortune telling. In my opinion, as long as it does not clash with your personal or religious believes, it is quite a useful tool to help us understanding ourselves. I am not emphasising on forecasting or predicting the future, it is helping us to understand our need, and to clarify and reorganise our mind to decide accordingly.

Previously, i am not very keen on those fortune telling thingy merely because i do not want to hear something bad about my future. I believe our future is determined by what we are doing now. Since the first time i came across the tarot card, it is quite amazing as it was revealing my thought and desire in front of me. I was required to choose a number of cards and revealed the card in order to read the message. In my opinion, the interpretation is very subjective as it depends on what do you wanna know and how to see it. I tried to read the card under guidance and got to know more about my feeling over an issue.

Recently, i came across I-Ching divination. I was asked to choose from eight numbers in which each of them is representing the eight trigrams. Combination of the chosen trigrams would representing the message behind the request. Surprisingly, i think it is quite straight to the point, i never thought of that even though i came across the point before. It really helps me to clarify my thought, to identify my needs so that i can act accordingly. I was impressed by this amazing yet mysterious knowledge.

Although no one can predict the future exactly as it would be, i think we have to work hard for it anyway.
Since we cannot predict anything, so just let it be.
Do our best and leave the rest to God.
When we are ready, we will be rewarded accordingly.

Expressing ourselves

Do you think we have to always express your thought or what is in your mind?
Sometimes people, or more specifically our superiors, just expect us would tell them something they expected, they will assume that we are either not paying any attention, not as good as we should be or do not perform up to the expectation if we failed to do so. Actually i do not mind to tell the expected answer if it does no harm to me or other people, but....

Last months, i came across two books emphasising that one should be humble and stay low profile while getting along with people. The main purpose of doing so as stated by the authors is to maintain the harmonious atmosphere among people which generally means reducing the chances of generating any enemies or rivals. And most importantly, it allows us to equip ourselves well especially when we are not ready or do not have enough background knowledge while making any statement. I agree to the points given by the author in the sense that we need to be keen in learning and maintain good relationship with people around us.

Sometimes, things might not work as we want it to be, we have to express ourselves moderately whenever it is necessary. Back to the first point, most of the time we have no idea how to explain something which is beyond our knowledge. It just happened like it should be. Do we really have to try to explain it by providing any relevant evidences for that? They are merely speculations and sometimes it is not necessary to prove them at all. Hence, it is really a challenge for coming out with an reasonable answer for fulfilling the curiosity of our superiors. Usually, silence is the best solution provided a message of improvement is conveyed. If we are being accused by the superiors from doing what we should not be doing, we need not have to argue aggressively if it is just a small matter, time will eventually reveal the truth for us. However, sometimes cumulative accusation is lethal before the truth is revealed, hahaha... There is always no specific answer for this.

In my opinion, it is not necessary to explain everything to others. If not, we will be busy pleasing and meeting others' expectations. However and most importantly, we have to explain to ourselves why we are doing so. If we know what we are doing, we will not be in the wrong path.

If we have the purchasing ability, we need not to make the purchase just because of those tiny discounts which would make you regret afterwards. We should pay for its price, and of course it is very subjective.
有錢不怕買不到東西, 如果不是你要的, 不需要為了一些小便宜買了而後悔, 消費要物有所值, 當然這也是因人而異的.

Neihu 內湖

We canceled the hiking trip on Saturday morning due to the bad weather forecast, however the weather turnout to be very good in the morning. Arghhh...
Someone insisted to go for mountain hiking, so we decided to go to Neihu 內湖...Bishanyan Hiking Trail 碧山岩步道.
(Sometimes we just can't predict everything, so what we can do is to modify the initial plans and carry out accordingly.)

My sweat and tiredness paid-off when i see this. Woo...

We stayed for a while and headed to another local attractions, the Baishihu Suspension Bridge 白石湖吊橋. The design was quite unique.

The trees grow symetrical and complement to each other representing the harmonious and respect of two couples. It is quite amazing.

The local-made strawberry ice-cream is not bad, cost for NT30. There are many strawberry farms around the area.

Meeting new friends

This morning, i woke up early in the morning to meet two new friends from Japan. We contacted each other through emails and SMS. Since the destination is reachable by bus and a five-minute walking distance, so i took a bus there. It took me more than 35 minutes to reach there, and upon my arrival to the tea house, they were there waiting for me already.

Since i do not know any Japanese, we communicated with simple English. We conversed slowly and wrote the words or characters on a paper just to ensure we got each other right. It was such a special experience for me. I believe with this kind of pure friendship and sincere communication, the bond between us would be last longer.

We chatted for more than two hours. The topics were mainly surrounding our daily life and preferences. Before we left, we requested a Japanese lady of next table to take some pictures for us.

Mid Autumn Barbecue

The Mid Autumn Festival aka Mooncake Festival or Lantern Festival is one of the important day for Chinese. What people do on this day varies among the regions. Besides eating mooncakes (usually serve together with Chinese tea and pomelo) and enjoying the family reunion under the moon light, it comes with some traditional activities such as lighting the lanterns and playing with candles. You can easily find many houses in Malaysia are lighting up with many candlelight around this day. Some organisations might even organise some lantern-making competitions to promote this festive season. In Taiwan, outdoor barbecue is the typical way to celebrate Mid Autumn Festival. You can easily find groups of people gathering at the corridor, road sides, public open space and etc for barbecue.
Since we today is the public holiday, I went for barbecue with my friends. I woke up early in the morning and departed to Keelung by train. After arrived at Keelung Railway Station, we traveled to the destination by taxi. This is the place called 基隆外木山大武崙沙灘.

The scenery there was very beautiful. Even though it was hot and sunny out there, everyone was happy and very active. We spent the whole day there by sea-bathing, barbecuing and playing some games. After cleaning-up, we took the free shuttle bus back to Keelung City for dinner. Some of us were not interested with the crowded and costly night market and we called it a day by traveling back to Taipei by train after dinner.
I got tanned after spending whole day under the sun...

每次回去, 都會讓我感嘆祖國的偉大
天然資源高速公路高樓大廈美麗風景還有殖民時期留下來的遺跡
馬來亞獨立了53年馬來西亞成立了47年
從葡萄牙荷蘭英國日本再回到英國
不同地方的移民中國印度葡萄牙
還有本土的原住民
造就了多元種族的生活環境宗教信仰文化氣息南洋美食

每次看到很多關於祖國的新聞
有些是令人鼓舞的, 可是也有不少會讓我憤怒失望
不公平的對待, 讓我們更加努力向上
多元的社會, 讓我們學會了很多技能
面對不同的人, 讓我們適應能力更強
政治的亂象、貪污和腐敗, 讓我們有進步的空間成偉真正的民主國家
種族與宗教的課題, 一直是馬來西亞政治的包袱
許多制度的不透明, 一直是馬來西亞社會的無奈
改變所帶來的公平, 一直是馬來西亞人民的希望!

雖然我不滿意現在的政府
可是政府提供了13年免費的國民義務教育
提供貸學金完成了大學學位
很幸運的拿到獎學金完成了碩士學位
提供幾乎免費的醫療設施, 雖然服務品質有所保留
扣除薪資作為公積金, 讓日後退休生活可以無虞 (通膨的上揚讓很多人幾年內就花光了)
中立、不结盟的外交政策, 讓我們去很多國家都不必辦簽證 (如果你有時間金錢換有世界)
提供各種民生用品的津貼, 來減輕市民生活負擔 (薪資從來沒有上漲, 很多人錢不夠用)

馬來西亞訓練了很多人才送到世界各地 , 自己不留

我不知道我以後的命運會是什麼
也許有一天我可以為妳付出些什麼
充實自己, 把本分做好一定會有回饋貢獻的一天!

2010 Watoto Care for Children Concert

Last night, i went for a concert at Activity Centre of Academia Sinica.
2010關懷弱勢兒童 Watoto兒童合唱團中研院音樂會
The concert was performed by Uganda Children's Choir "Watoto" Taiwan Concert Tour organised of World Vision. Currently, "Watoto" is having their Taiwan Tour in whole August 2010 and Academia Sinica invited them for a show here.

It is an African choir dedicated to improve the way of life for the children in Africa. The choir members are made up of children who have lost one or both parents to the AIDS epidemic or to war. Although their performances which are mainly a blend of gospel music and native African dance are very new to me. Frankly, i did not appreciate much on gospel songs. The performance was lasted for 1.5 hour. One of their performance in singing a Chinese song "感恩的心" really touched me. My body developed goose bumps when i heard the foreign accents blend with a familiar melody. The choir sing with their passion and present their talent together with a strong will of living to the audience. It was a great musical show!
After the show, i signed up for the Child Sponsorship Programme to sponsor a child.

Weekend of 21st August

Yesterday we intended to go to watch the fireworks show L'amour a` Bitan organised by Taipei County Government at Bitan in conjunction with Lunar 7/7 Chinese Valentine's Day. After having dinner with friends, we headed to Xindian MRT station. Once the train arrived at the destination stop, the MRT station was very crowded. Escalators were not functioning as too many people were gathering inside the stations, hence we assume there were more crowds outside the station.
After considering for a while, we decided to leave to avoid the crowd, especially after the event ended. Before leaving, i managed to capture this advertisement featuring Sandra Ng, one of my favourite artists. This advertisement is appealing public to care for the blind chilren...

We called it a day after doing some shopping at Taipei Main Station.

This afternoon, i cooked for the lunch. I included the yesterday-bought coconut milk powder in the yellow curry. I changed the adding order of the ingredients by boiling the curry paste first together with stir-fried onion cubes and coconut milk. It did give different textures and more aromas! I tried to cook another vegetarian dish with mushroom, corn, cucumber and onion. Appropriate amount of salt and soy sauce was added to taste, and it tastes good! The potato leaves were a bit fibrous. :p

So, i better go to lab to prepare for my tomorrow lab meeting content.

Time flies and I have been living in Taiwan for 4 years. Since Chinese Language (Mandarin) is widely used in Taipei as the medium of daily communication, my Chinese proficiency has improved a lot compared to 4 years ago. I can speak fluently without mixing with other languages or dialects and with proper sentence structure. In the begining, i found that people here speaks differently from us, albeit the usage of Traditional Chinese characters versus Simplified Chinese characters and different accents, the pronunciation or tones over some Chinese characters are a bit different from what i learnt in my home country.
Let me summarise some of the major differences on the pronunciation below:
在台灣生活了一段時間，轉眼已經快進入第五年了。由於在這裡的衣食住行都離不開中文，所以我的中文進步了，現在的我跟當初的我比起來，的確是改變很多。應該說講話比以前流利了，可以完整以中文來表達，不需要加入其它語言或方言了，且會開始注意句子結構。
剛開始，會覺得臺灣人說的中文或華語,怎麼有點不一樣...　這不是繁體字與簡體字的差異或者口音的問題，而是有些字的發音，跟以前老師教的不一樣...
以下讓我來舉例一些最常遇到的差異:

角角色 →　我們念"絕"，不念"腳"，角度如三角形等，則念"腳"
和我和你　→ 這裡念我"汗"你, 而我們是念我"河"你
亞馬來西亞東南亞亞洲 →　這裡是念"雅"，我們念"訝"
微微笑、微小、微波爐 →　這裡念"唯"，我們是念"威"
艘一艘船 →　這裡是念"騷"，我們念"收"
淑淑女 →　這裡是念"贖"，我們念"書"
廈高樓大廈 →　這裡念"夏"，我們念"煞"
攜攜帶 →　這裡是念"西"，我們則念"協"
企企業、企鵝、企圖　→　這裡人念"器"，我們念"起"
錫錫米 →　這裡是念"席"，我們則念"西"
什什麼 →　這裡是念"蛇"，我們則念"神"
法法國 →　這裡是念第四聲，我們念第二聲，方法的"法"皆念第二聲
酪乳酪 →　"lao"(ㄌㄠ)跟"luo"(ㄉㄨㄛ), 皆念第四聲
垃圾 →　"勒色"跟"拉雞"

Well, that's all i can recall so far.
嗯，目前只想到這麼多。

Living in Malaysia, besides mastering the major three languages, sometimes we need to communicate with Chinese dialects such as Hokkien, Cantonese, Teochew, Hakka, Fuchou, Hainan and etc (I am not that great to know all of them..., normally simple Mandarin, Cantonese or Hokkein is sufficient), hence most of the speeches of Chinese descendants in Malaysia are mixed with various dialects and languages for effective communication and expression, and all of us are used to that. We watch a lot of　TV programmes from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan everyday exposing to different types of languages among the regions, so we might mix-up with the pronunciation of some Chinese characters as they are different from what we known and used daily. However, we might be pronouncing these characters wrong all the way since we were young. To be frank, i learnt a lot of new Chinese characters through watching the drama series from Hong Kong, so sometimes i only know how to read the characters in Cantonese instead of Mandarin... Ops...
To make a long story short, so if you ever got the chance to visit Taiwan of Mainland China　and the local peoples there could not understand what you said or correct your pronunciation over certain characters, try not to deny yourself at the beginning, this could be due to the differences across the straits and there is no right or wrong. My suggestion is, when in Rome, do as the Romans do!
Next time i will talk about different names given on the same object.
在馬來西亞生活，除了要掌握三種語言，說話時也許還需要加入一些華人的方言，如福建、廣東、潮州、客家、福州和海南等（我沒那麼厲害全部都會啦..，一般上用華語，廣東話或福建話就可以溝通了）來強化溝通和表達，所以造成大馬華裔說的中文像個大雜燴，雖然一句話當中可能會參插了一些來自不同語言或方言，不過大部分的人都聽得懂。在日常生活中，看很多中港臺的電視節目和電影，對於不同的中文發音可能會感到混淆，好像跟日常生活所用的不一樣，不過，這當然也有可能我們自己從小到大都念錯某些字... 老實說，很多中文字詞的用法，我是看港劇學的，所以有時候知道廣東發音，卻不知道其中文的發音...哈哈!
長話短說吧～
所以，如果以後你們有機會去臺灣或中國，當地人聽不懂或糾正你的發音時，先別否定自己的中文程度，因為這只是兩岸的差異所造成的，並沒有對與錯。個人建議，入鄉隨俗就好!
下次再談談不同名詞的用法，就是相同的東西，名稱卻不一樣。

Let's coo curry!
來煮咖哩吧!

First, heat up the pan and add some vegetable oil. Stir fry some finely-chhopped onions till fragrant.
首先把鍋子加熱, 然後放入食油. 放入洋蔥碎, 油爆至香

Add the curry paste and fry until aromatic.
放入咖哩醬, 拌煮至香.

Add chicken and potatoes (cubes), mix well and fry until the meat became tender.
加入雞肉和馬鈴薯, 拌煮至雞肉熟


Add water or coconut milk and simmer till boil. Stir once a while and add condiments for taste.
加水(或椰漿)煮至滾, 偶爾攪拌...調味.
And it is ready to serve!
可以吃了!

The porridge is cooked by Meiji using previous ingredients.
粥是明治用之前剩下來的材料來煮的.

This is our lunch for today.
這就是我們今天的午餐.

These are the Mamee snack from Malaysia and Hong Kong. What are the differences? Apart from different packing size and weight, actually both of them are made in Malaysia.
港版嘅媽咪麵同大馬版嘅媽咪麵有咩唔同咧? 除咗包裝同埋大包D之外, 都係大馬製造嘅..

A Sunday in Taipei 在臺北的一個週日

Today we went to watch the choir performance (Azalea and Flamboyant in Harmony) at Zhongshan Hall, near Ximending. Why? It is merely because Jessica is performing. Haha...
今天我們到靠近西門町的中山堂去觀賞合唱團的演出(杜鵑慕榕鳳凰醉月~南北合鳴天籟揚). 為什麼呢? 就是因為曉華有分參與演出啊. 呵!

After that, we went for sight-seeing around Taipei City.
表演結束, 我們便到台北市四處走走逛逛.

This is the recreation area near the Zhongshan MRT station. I like the display and decor there. Of course have to take some pictures.
這裡是中山捷運站附近的一個休閒區, 那邊的裝飾與擺設我很喜歡. 呵, 當然要拍照!

After that, we went to Lungshan Temple and the nearby Guangzhou Street night market for food.
過後, 我們去了龍山寺以及附近的廣州街夜市覓食.

Finally, i back home for Chinese New Year for the very first time ever since i went to Taiwan. It's good to be home. We bought the Airasia ticket in July 2009. Hmmm.., the aircraft condition is quite nice...
This is taken at Terminal 2 of Taoyuan International Airport.

Wrote Chinese caligraphy at the airport. This mean prosperous!

Having Nasi Lemak at Old Town White Coffee of LCCT Airport... It doesn't taste good compared to other branch... The drink is Xi Mut Milk Tea

Now i will bring you to eat something special i discovered last time at Ximending.., so i urged my friend to bring me there again. This is the shop. The tomato noodle is very nice.

上次在西門町發現的好吃的東西, 所以這次就叫朋友再帶我去! 就是這家店, 它的蕃茄麵很好吃!

Besides, i went to watch Avatar (finally...) with my friend, this is the two avatars of myself... LOL
還有, 今天終於跟朋友去看<阿凡達>了.., 之前也製作了兩個"阿凡達"來應景... 哈哈!

This shop is located at Breeze Mall of Taipei Main Station Underground Street. Although it is cheaper (with 10% discount for student), i think the Magic Curry is better.
這一家店銀座咖哩飯.義大利麵, 是在台北站前地下街的微風廣場, 雖然便宜(學生打九折), 但是我覺得魔法咖哩比較好吃.

ASICC opening

I went for the Academia Sinica International Community Club (ASICC) opening ceremony tonight for free food... The ASICC is a new social club for Academia Sinica employees that hopes to bring together the diverse international community of AS. FYI, there are people out of 46 different countries working in AS. I was there late and met Anle on the way. So we made our queue for the buffet meal.
See, everyone is bring their whole family, LOL...

Ok, after finished my meal, i went to have a chat with my best friend, Prafulla, and her husband Sundar. Ha, we met Dr. Lee Yuen Tseh and had a photo session with him. He is the Nobel Laureate in Chemistry year 1986.

I didn't join for the remaining of the programme, everyone is still eating, so i went back to lab.

Her previous song "Heart Sutra" (duet with Julian Cheung in around 1995) helps me to memorised the 260-character of Heart Sutra.

Jinguashi and Jiufen 1-day trip 金瓜石-九份一日遊

Yesterday we went to Yehliu, so today we went further to Goldmelon Stone (Jinguashi) and Nine portions (Jiufen). We travelled there by train. The journey took around 35 minutes from Nangang to Ruifang. We straightaway took the bus in front of the railway station heading to Jinguashi.

The scenery along the way is very beautiful. Jinguashi and Jiufen are situated at the highland of northeast mountain area of Taiwan, hence we can enjoy the beautiful scenery along the journey. Jinguashi is the terminal stop, it will pass by Jiufen on the way.

Alright, we are here.

We are so lucky, from now on the entrance is free!!

Now we are on the way to the Gold Musuem. The scenery outside is worth for the walking effort.

Now we are going inside the museum.

If you never touch this piece of gold, never telling anyone that you been to this museum. It is a gold block of 999.9 grade and weight 220.30 kg, worth for NT 255,420,000 (around USD 8 million). We touched it.

Leaving the museum, now going to Jiufen.

We took the same bus descending the hill to Jiufen. It stopped in front of 7-11. We then walk into the alley which sell lots of local products and food. This is the first time i came here by myself and get the chance to see the surrounding and feel the atmosphere throughly. As usual, here is crowded... Haha...

We stopped by a shop for fishball soup and noodles. I bought a wood postcard for myself and send one back home for my family. Yes, we bought some souvenirs too.

This is the famous food. They queue for long time to buy this, but i bought the yam cake instead.

However, we didn't try the famous "yam-starch ball". It was really nice when i tried it 2 years ago with my friends, the scenic view from the dining hall really blend well with the tasty dessert. This is the famous cookies confectionery.

After that, we took bus back to Taipei and had our late dinner at the underground street near to the MRT. We called it a day.

Yehliu-Taipei 1-day trip 野柳臺北一日遊

It was no raining during this weekend, so we must take this opportunity go out! Hence, i will be the tour guide for Mun Hoe and Jane these two days. Today, we decided to go to Yehliu to see the special rocky architectures and do some shopping. We started out journey by going to Academia Sinica for a short visit... So sampat snapping photos everywhere, make sure don't make it public ok...
哇, 週末兩天都不會下雨, 我們一定要把握機會出去玩! 這兩天我就當文豪及阿寶的導遊啦, 今天就去野柳看美麗的岩石和購物吧. 我們先到中研院去參觀實驗室. 別三八到處亂拍, 記得不要公開放到網路上...

We stopped by at Taipei 101 for photo session. 我們先到台北101附近拍拍照再搭車過去.

Ok, we are there. We walked along the road passing by the fishing village and enjoying the salty breeze at the same time...
我們到野柳了. 沿途步行到地質公園的途中, 會經過一個漁港, 順便享受海風鹹濕的吹拂...

After that, we back to Taipei for dinner and shopping.
We went to Raohe night market for food. Girls went to Wuwenpu for clothes shopping whilst guys went to night market for shoes shopping.
玩夠了, 是時候回臺北吃飯血拼了.. 我們到饒河夜市吃晚餐. 女的到五分埔買衣服, 男的在夜市買鞋子...

Bought too much already, we have to call the cab to go home...
買太多了, 現在要叫車回家...

Sherlock Holmes 夏洛克·福爾摩斯

Yeah, i went to watch the movie "Sherlock Holmes" today with Michael.
It is quite nice! The plots of Sherlock Holmes partnering with Dr. John Watson in solving the crime mysteries indeed very dramatic and adventurous.
Actually, i obtained the complete 7 seasons of the drama series "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" produced by Granada two months ago. However, Holmes in the movie doesn't appeared same as the drama series one, so as Dr. Watson. I was thinking the other way round when i saw the movie's poster for the first time last month.
I like the street view of Baker Street, perhaps i should go to visit London in the future to visit the museum there.
耶, 今天跟大叔去看福爾摩斯, 好看!
福爾摩斯跟華生一起解決各種懸疑案的劇情, 除了歷險又具有戲劇性.
其實, 在兩個月前已經要到福爾摩斯全七季的影集系列. 可是,電影裡的福爾摩斯和華生並不像影集中的形象, 當出看到海報時還以為他們的角色是顛倒的.
我喜歡貝克街的街景, 也許下次去倫敦的時候要去參觀那間博物館.

What a special countdown night. I went to countdown at hot spring with a few friends. All the bad luck had been washed away, and the firecrackers explosion had burst away all the bad mood...
很特別的跨年夜, 跟幾個朋友去泡溫泉跨年, 把霉氣都沖掉了, 而壞運氣也隨著煙火的爆發, 拋到九霄雲外..

I went to visit the Hakka Specialty Exhibition and get a new hair cut with Chiang.
Did you notice the difference?
後來跟阿強去參觀了客家特色商品國際展, 也剪了一個新髮型, 看得出來嗎?.

Luckily we didn't go to the congested and crowded Taipei 101 for countdown. The firework shows stopped twice in the middle.
還好我們沒有去人擠人的台北101跨年, 煙火秀竟然無故停頓兩次.

No matter we gained or lost, we are actually gaining something.

My philosophy is:
We are gaining something everytime.
We learnt from a mistake.... we can perform better in the future.
We knew some bad people... at least they are not our in-touch friends now.
We lost bad pals... we can live more happily without them.
We missed a bus/flight... we should know more about time management.
We got complained or scolded... we were taught with self management.

Stop complaining, stop being too demanding.
Self management and self discipline.
Stop asking "HOW TO?", ask "WHY?" instead!

I have been missing for a while here. Anyone there is following my blog? Perhaps we already see each other a lot in Facebook and Plurk.
I just finished my annual progress report today. So for the past few weeks, i have been busying organising all the data and repeating the experiments to make the data more conclusive and nice. Not have much progress this year compared to last year, probably too many incidents were happened to my life. They really affected me even though i thought i managed them well. What to do? Amyway, at least i have a clear direction now. Competitors out there, do not scoop my work again, please...

Taipei with David and E-Lin

Today is the last day of David and E-Lin in Taipei.
We went out late today.., my fault...
We had our late breakfast at Family Mart near my house. We had some chats there before travelling to Taipei Main Station by bus. We put the luggage near the MRT station. Then we went to bought the bus tickets to Taoyuan International Airport.
Oh, we saw HuiChi on the way. So we managed to took pictures with her.

It's still early, so we went to Taipei 101 to take some pictures of the building during day time. It was drizzling on the way back, and we met Rayjun and his friend.
Ok, time to proceed to Longshan Temple, they haven't been to this important tourist spot in Taipei. So we took MRT there. On the way walking to the MRT station, we passed by Bellavita.

At last we reached Longshan Temple.

After praying and getting some blessed, we then moved to the nearby Guangzhou Street night market. I recommeded them my favourite food there. Ha, they liked it!

We went to the nearby Huahsi Night Market. Each of us bought a cup of pearl milk tea there. So we moved to Ximending to do the final shopping.
Finally, they managed to catch the bus to the airport on time.

Shilin Night Market 臺北士林夜市

Yesterday, three old classmates had their reunion in Taipei.
We chosed Shilin Night Market to meet up as David and E-Lin went to Danshui and Yangmingshan during the day and they will pass by Shilin Night Market on their way back by MRT.
I met up with Jimmy for dinner first while waiting for them to come.

After meet up, we went to buy some drinks.

Then we jalan-jalan at the pasar malam and we bought some clothes. I spent around NT1200 for 3 shirts and a trouser. There were cheap sales. We then had some food along the way...

After that, Jimmy fetched us to Carrefour to buy some souvenirs and sent us home. We were going at the wrong direction on the way back, so we reached home late. Really a big thank you to Jimmy for the company.

One-day trip to Yeliu and Jinshan 野柳金山一日遊

Annie came to Taiwan again, of course is for Sunny. Hahahaa... We then decided to go to Yeliu. It was a rainy day. The rain in Taiwan doesn't not pours like Malaysia, it drizzle the whole day making you feeling humid, wet and moody. We took bus from Taipei opposite of the United Press Building.
NT84. Travel time: around one hour. After getting down from the bus, we walk there. The geopark is located next to an elementary school.
Annie又來臺灣玩啦, 當然是找Sunny啦... 今天我們決定要去野柳玩. 又是下雨天. 臺灣的雨, 不會像大馬那樣傾盆而下, 通常幾小時就停了; 可是這裡的都是那些會飄的毛毛雨, 然你感到全身濕濕的, 悶悶的, 心情有時也會變得憂鬱. 我們從聯合報斜對面的地方搭公車前往野柳. NT84, 車程約一小時. 下車後, 我們步行到地質公園, 它就在一間國小旁邊.

Yeliu Geopark is famous for its various shapes of rocks due to sea erosion. Due to the components of the rock layer nearby the seashore is subjected to sea water erosion, various shapes of rocks were formed, such as candlelight stand, the famous queen's head, fairy's shoe, ginger-shapped rocks, mushroom heads and etc. See? Tourists are everywhere holding an umbrella or wearing a raincoat.
野柳地質公園之所以聞名臺灣, 主要是因為園區內有很多天然形成的各種形狀的岩石. 由於地質的關係, 加上海水的侵蝕與風化作用下, 形成了各種形狀的岩石, 如燭臺石, 盛名的女皇頭, 仙女鞋, 薑石和蕈狀岩等等. 看到了嗎? 全部人都撐雨傘或穿雨衣.

Ahhh, everywhere is wet. 啊, 到處都是濕濕的.

You can see many people were crowding at a place, they were taking their turns to take the picture with the Queen's head. We didn't manage to wait for our turn because many tourists were not following the queue, so i cropped the pictures.
很多人都聚集在園區內的一點, 就是為了要輪流跟那個女皇頭合照. 我們沒有被輪到, 因為有很多人不守次序, 所以我把拍到的相片框下來.

Suddenly we found that the other side was actually looked like queen's head too, so we took this picture. You can see many people were at the other side. LOL.
突然間, 我們發現在女皇頭的另一邊, 也有女皇頭的形狀, 所以我們換成在這裡拍照. 可以看到在另外一邊有很多人在拍照. 哈哈!

However, the scenery there would be even nicer without this bad weather.
要不是老天不作美, 這裡的風景應該比現在更好.

After that, we took bus to Jinshan for food. NT22. We went to the Jinbaoli Old Street. What is there along the old street? Food! All the old streets in Taiwan sell food, souvenirs, and local products, tourists go there to see those old building architectures.
過後, 我們便搭車到金山覓食. NT22. 我們去了金包里老街. 老街有什麼? 吃的! 全臺灣的老街都不是賣吃的, 就是一些紀念品和一些土產. 遊客也可以去看看那些老建築物.

We then stopped at this shop for late lunch. The food were nice, but we couldn't finished all. All for NT490.
我們到這間店吃飯. 東西很好吃, 可是太多我們吃不完. 全部NT490.

After that, we took bus from there back to Taipei. NT120. I slept all the way throughout the journey.
吃完飯我們就搭車回臺北了. NT120. 回程我從金山一路睡到臺北...

Fireworks at Dadaocheng, Taipei

This is the annual firework festival of Taipei, yesterday night at Dadaocheng Wharf, Taipei. I went there last year for the first time, it was very crowded. And decided not to go this year.

However, i went again this year...to meet Seck John.
I went to meet Aaron around dinner time at Ximending, then we went there to meet his friends at MRT Shuanglian Station. OMG, there were many people queuing for the shuttle bus, so we decided to walk there.
Can you see many people are walking??

I couldn't find brother John... Jamming in the crowd of people, can't even move easily. After looking for some time, i decided to give up, apparently we were refering to the wrong landmark, a wrong tree... The fireworks show started. Approximately 21000 shoots for 30 minutes. This is the longest fireworks show i have ever watch. Very nice, with love shape, flowers, and the amazing smiley face!
Of course i didn't count by myself how many fireworks were shot, it's the information from the official ma...

On the way walking out, i met Seck John. Ya, the third tree from the stage...
We were jamming in the crowd of people again for one hour, in the distance of less than 300 metre!!

No more next year? We shall see... Hahaha...
Actually, it would be romantic if you go with your love one. Hehe...
After that, i went to meet my friends. Then we had a long night walk, chatting, and supper.

World Peace Festival

This is the event held at the open area outside of CKS Memorial Hall.

Apparently, i went there for Michael Wong! Thank you Ah Chiang for getting us a VIP seat. Hahaha... There were a Malaysian singer Soo something performing on the stage, claiming as contestant of Miss World.

After Michael's performance, we left during the performance of Jam Hsiao, the spoke person for this event, to avoid traffic jam. We wen to the nearby dimsum store to have supper.
That is cheap and nice! Pictures to be updated later...

Museum of World Religions

It was a windy Sunday afternoon, nice weather.
After getting off from the MRT Dingxi Station, i walked to meet them for lunch. After lunch, Ken fetch me to the museum by bike while Aaron and others were walking there. So Ken and i decided to go to the shopping mall next to the museum while waiting for them.
This is the museum, situated next to a shopping mall.

People are going to the shopping mall.

The museum exhibits on ten different world religions.
What interested me a lot are the architectural models of world's famous religious building. It was magnificently made and amazing. The museum is not big, you can finished walking around in few minutes, but you would need to spend time on each exhibition to appreciate and learn.

If you are interested in all these religion topics you can pay a visit although the ticket is a bit expensive NT150 for public and NT100 for student or handicapped.

Anne organised a singing session for international students today at Neihu Holiday KTV. I woke up late today so i went here myself to join them. Hmmm, who are there in the KTV VIP room? Anne, Cristine, Nacvhaa, Marilyn and Yi Wei... Avelene came to join us later. This is my first time singing together with many international friends and we sang a lot of English songs today.
今天曉慧學姊月了幾個國際學生一起到內湖的好樂迪去唱K, 由於我睡遲了, 所以只好自己去赴會. 嗯, 看看有誰在包廂裡面... 學姊, Cristine, Nacvhaa, Marilyn 還有翊偉. Avelene稍後才出現. 這是我第一次跟那麼多外國學生在KTV唱歌, 我們唱了很多英文歌.

At night, Siti invited us (Seok Kooi, Frank and me) to her house for open house. Initially it was a Raya Open House last weekend, but it is postponed to today in conjunction with the Mid Autumn or Mooncake Festival. Since the local people like to barbecue during this festival, so we also have our Malaysian and Singaporean style of barbecue...without using any local-favourite barbrcue sause but only with butter and honey.
晚上, 西蒂邀請琡貴,方堯和我到她家聚餐. 原本是上個周末的開齋節聚餐, 結果延遲到今天才舉行, 也配合中秋節啦... 臺灣人在中秋節喜歡烤肉, 所以我們也來烤肉, 只是是馬來西亞和新加坡的方式, 不像本地人會用烤肉醬, 我們只用奶油和蜂蜜.

Besides having the barbecue, Siti also cooked some authentic malay-style dishes (with ingredients or spices which are not available here). Seok Kooi and i were very happy as if we are in hometown. Furthermore, we had some Raya cookies which can only be seen in Malaysia. Frank was happy that he tried many new food today. Maya was so cute and playful. It is hard for a women with a kid to be taken care of doing PhD at the same time. I have a lot to learn with Siti. Many thanks to everyone.
除了吃燒烤, 西蒂還煮了一些馬來菜餚 (有的材料和香料是臺灣找不到的). 琡貴和我都覺得很開心, 好像回到了家鄉. 除此之外, 還有一些開齋節糕餅, 都是以前只有在馬來西亞開齋節的時候才有的. 方堯很開心, 因為今天嘗到了很多他沒吃過的食物, 而他也很喜歡那些味道. 瑪雅真得很可愛. 一個女人需要照顧小孩, 同時也在修博士學位, 真的很不簡單. 我還有很多要向西蒂學習. 今天謝謝大家!

Lunch time cooking session

We were having cooking session for Aidilfitri...
No lah.., actually just wanna play masak-masak, coincidently today is the first day of Hari Raya. Seok Kooi and i were the chef for everyone. We went to the morning market to buy all the ingredients and cooked in my new apartments. This is the first time i use the kitchen after staying here for 2 months plus.

Yingge Ceramics Museum

Yingge Ceramics Museum, a nice place to visit during the weekend. I went for half-day tour with Aaron and friends. We travelled by train to Yingge Railway Station and walk to the museum.
鶯歌陶瓷博物館, 一個蠻不錯的地方, 假日閒閒沒事可以來參觀. 今天跟小天還有一些朋友去了鶯歌半日遊. 我們早上從臺北坐火車到鶯歌車站, 然後步行到博物館.

After that, we went to the old street for lunch. It was very hot out there.
However, the noodle-in-a-pot was nice.
接著, 我們到鶯歌老街去吃午餐. 外面真得很熱. 不過老街陶館內的甕仔麵味道真得不錯.

Bernhard birthday party

Hsinchu & Nanliau 1-day trip 新竹南寮一日遊

It has been 3 months i didn't see Jimmy, so today i made a spontaneous decision by going to Hsinchu to meet him. I didn't realise that Taipei Bus Station has moved to a new location, so it took me a while by going there.
已經有三個月沒有見到東豪了, 所以今天就即興說要到新竹去找他玩. 啊, 忘了台北轉運站已經換地點了, 所以還花了一些時間去那邊坐車.

He brought me for late lunch at this shop.
Hmmm.., noodle in a small pot, special and delicious.
(i found the food in Hsinchu is far more better and delicious than Taipei, or perhaps i haven't explored thoroughly in Taipei...)
到新竹已經是下午了, 所以他帶我去這間店吃午餐.
甕仔麵, 蠻特別的, 也很好吃.
(感覺上新竹的東西比台北好吃很多, 還是在台北我還沒找到好吃的...)

After that, we went to RT-Mart for shopping. It is weird to do shopping there (i can do that in Taipei...). Anyway, i bought some books, a bowl with cover and some T-shirts. I made a hair cut there for NT100. Before leaving, each of us bought a bucket of ice-cream. Ha, now on the way to Nanliau.
過後, 我們到大潤發去購物. 來新竹採購好像很奇怪, 因為東西也可以在台北買啊. 我買了幾本書, 一個含蓋的磁碗, 還有兩件T恤, 也在那邊順便去把頭髮剪短. 臨走前, 我們各自買了一桶阿奇濃冰淇淋. 哈, 我們現在要去南寮啦...

Oh my god, the scenery there is so beautiful. So relaxing although there were many people there. We chose a place to sit down to eat the ice-cream. It was so tranquilising feeling the breeze while eating the ice-cream.
天啊, 怎麼那裡的風景那麼美! 感覺上就很舒服, 雖然那邊人山人海... 我們找了一個地方坐下來吃冰淇淋. 在涼風習習下吃著冰淇淋, 真讓人心曠神怡.

Shit, i just uptake the calorie of almost a set meal of fast food by finishing the whole bucket of ice-cream!
慘了, 我吃完一整桶才發現已經攝取很多的卡路里, 差不多等於一份套餐了.

After that, four of us went for dinner here. "3-cup mushroom" set meal.
過後我們來這邊吃晚餐. 三杯鮮菇套餐.

We then called it a day. After having a short walk at the secret garden, Jimmy then sent me to the bus terminal going back to Taipei. Thank you so much!
歡樂時光過的特別快, 又是時候講掰掰... 去了秘密花園散步後, 幾米便載我去車站坐車回臺北. 謝謝你喔!

IMB Retreat 2009

Just came back from retreat, tiring...
I have been working hard for the oral presentation, though i didn't manage to complete the expected results, but at least i know what is lacking and has the direction on how to move ahead.

We went to the Aspire Resort for three and a half day. I didn't enjoy much as my oral presentation is on the last day. I was very nervous while starting to talk on the stage. Though this is not the first time to give a presentation, but still the feeling was not right this morning. This is a good experience for me, i can do well in my seminar but not this time, perhaps i didn't practice enough before that.

IMB really have their own good way to train their students, i think students really benefit a lot from this kind of scientific meeting, but our institute also spent a lot of money for that...

These days i have been swarmed with lab works and the oral presentation preparation work. Yesterday night i went to Funky with Hank, quite relaxed but my body ended up with lots of cigarrette smoke smell...
最近都為了即將來臨的實驗成果報告演講忙得不可開交. 昨晚還跟阿漢去跳舞, 蠻不錯的, 不過身體卻充滿了菸酒味...

Yee Peng is having his job assignment in Taipei for few months, and finally i got to meet him today... We went to Neihu for lunch. We had lunch in a Japanese restaurant, Jessica is right, the food is so so only... but there were not much choices in that area. We were chatted after lunch for quite a while and realised that we were occupying the dining place, so we changed to Starbucks to continue the conversation. We recalled many old school time stories and sharing some working experience over these years. Hmmm., i think it has been almost 10 years we didn't see each other. How many 10-years do we have in a lifetime? It is really excited meeting old friends from home country in a foreign country. There are few more to come in the next few months, haha...
宜斌來臺北出差幾個月, 我們今天終於見面了, 約了到內湖用午餐. 那間哈拉影城附近的日本定食餐廳的東西不好吃, 小潔說得對, 只可惜那邊吃的選擇不多... 用完餐後我們聊了很久, 後來發現好像佔了餐桌由一段時間, 所以就轉移陣地到隔壁的星巴克繼續哈拉... 我們聊了很多昔日學校的一些趣事, 也分享了各自的一些工作經驗... 嗯, 看來我們也太久沒見面了, 也快十年了吧... 其實能夠在異鄉跟家想的老朋友碰面相聚, 是件高興的事... 人生又有多少個十年呢? 接下來的幾個月還有幾個要來臺北... 哈!
