Hi everyone, this would be the place where I can get connected with my family and friends when I am abroad. Wish we can stay in touch always, and I will keep updating you my current life here... =) You are welcome to leave any message and comment here... Take care and have a nice day!

31st August 2006

Happy National Day!!! Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!

This is the first time i "celebrate" National Day abroad.
Woke up in the late morning today..., checked-out from Activities Centre then went to check-in to the International Student Dormitory...
The weather is very hot, i sweat all the way dragging my luggages...

The dorm manager Dr. Hong were very helpful and nice, she explained every important point to me.., then brought me to visit all the facilities...
Hey, i told you, the facilities there is very impressive, laundry, kitchen, computer room and leisure are available, everyone is provided with a key card to access to all the facilities.., so the security system is good in the point that each card is unique and only the manager has the master card key. They will have the records on all your accession to every place.
The room is nice, better than those in UPM obviously... with nice furniture, balcony, air-conditioned and attached bathroom!!! One thing DNA was wrong is that they do not provide pillow or hanger for clothes...

Went to see Jessica, the student coordinator and my hosting PI Dr. Hwang Der-Hwa. We talked for a while and then he provided me a place to settle down at his lab, so kind of him. Most of the restaurants closed after 2pm, but i still able to had my lunch (the price is 50% more expensive than KL)... Went to see my hosting senior, a nice Indian guy named Srikanth Chiliveru. He brought me to Carrefour with his friends (my coursemates) to buy some groceries... Oh dear, there were lots of variety of goods that are not available in Malaysia, and the goods are relatively not cheap also...just got to know that the price included 5% tax (no wonder so expensive) and they do not provide plastic bag (NT2 for a bag), so everyone is carrying things just like that... I applied for a Carrefour card to collect points... Hahaha...

Cleaning the room and sorting all the stuffs i brought over, luckily i brought what i need... :)

Happy Birthday to King Hwa! Wish you dreams come true.
They are celebrating Independence Day in Malaysia, whilst we have to be independent in Melbourne and Taipei...

First day in Taiwan

Thanks to Kar Woh for your one day tour at Singapore, Prof. Dr. Wong for the lunch, Lim Koon, Lim Lim and Sai Weng for the supper, Felex for the drink, and Wai Har for the breakfast...
Finally thanks to Francis show me the place to Changi Airport...
Koh Mee went to meet me there... Haha...
The checked luggage over weight, the officer "close-one eye", but she saw the cabin luggage and insisted to weight it, oh..., it over weight 3 kg, so have to took out 3 kg in front of her... After got the boarding pass, i went to the toilet to put back the extra weight into the bag again then proceed to the gate... :p
Get to know a Taiwanese guy from Tainan, we talked during the flight. The Taiwan island is visible when we about to arrived, it was very nice and many agricultural areas and buildings are visible from the plane.
My "uncle" came to fetch me from CKS International Airport, save my hassle to travel by public transport.
Weather here very hot, people speakes softly, so we have to speak softly too (and i feel weird while listening myself speaking in the unusual way), traffic flow is on right hand side (so watched out) and the all the signboard is in Chinese, only road names with english...
He brought me for dinner and gave me a set of eating utensil, then only i know people here are now starting to bring their own eating utensils while eating outside. He brought me to his house for a while meeting his wife. She gave me an umbrella, a mug and some packs of tissue papers, so nice... He then sent me to the Academia Sinica Activities Centre to checked in...
Oh, that's what i do after arriving in Taiwan...

Leaving Malaysia

Leaving Ipoh yesterday...feeling sad... I thought can hold my tears for long...my parents and sister were sobbing when I was about to leave, luckily Kok Yew was the one sending me to bus station, if not I wouldn't can control my feeling...
That's their tears of happiness, as I go there for study, not for something else... Finally my tears all flow out in the bus, suddenly feel that I'll not be able to be with them for long... (write till here tears are dropping...) Hope all of them best in health and well always...

Back to KL farewell with friends.., time was constrain and very sorry for all the rushing... Wai Kong fetching me from Bandar Tun Razak to SS2, then having tea with Eng Kheong, Mau Jack, Chin Wei, Joe Foong and Cecelia at SS2...then night time steamboat at Serdang with Chuen Yi, Mei Fong, Cheah Wei, Kheng Hoe, Jit Sin, Wei Wei, Wei Chong and Tzer Ying...
Thanks for the gift from Cheah Wei, Mei Fong, Wei Wei, Gaik Theng and this morning, Prof. Yasmin.

Baggage are hard to pack, next time make sure you all don't bring too much stuffs over there... The toiletries are those actually contribute to the weight a lot, so do the papers... I've "sacrificed" many stuffs which I wish to bring over, so Chuen Yi have to help me to bring back home more stuffs now... Sorry yaa...

Thanks to Woon Wai for sending me to Puduraya bus station tonight. You can have my computer table for free... Hahahaha...

A big thank you to Win Cheong for accomodating and taking care of me in past few months. All the best to you in everything, my warmest regards to Michelle too...
